Two Board of Education Seats will be Filled

Thursday, April 17, 2025 is the last day to file petitions for two seats on the Brighton Board of Education. Two of our seven board seats are to be filled in an election on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. The terms of current board members Karen Hatch and Eleanor Oi are expiring this year. Ms. Hatch has announced her intention to seek re-election.
            
In order to be eligible to run as a candidate for board member, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; a citizen of the United States; a resident of the Brighton School District for at least one year preceding the election; have a petition signed by at least 19 qualified school district voters; file the petition with the Board Clerk by 4 p.m. on April 17, 2025 and be prepared to serve out the elected term of three years. The seats will be filled in an election on May 20, 2025, the same day as the budget vote.
 
Candidate packets will be available starting Monday, March 3, 2025. Please contact the office of the District Clerk at 242-5200 x5502 to schedule an appointment to pick up a packet.
