Reminder: School Budget Information Sessions on Wednesday
We’re excited to propose a budget that demonstrates that Brighton Believes in the Future of Our Community and Our Schools. Over the next several weeks, we’re going to present a series of videos and information that explain why our budget is a way for the community to invest in excellence.
Remember that we are holding School Budget Information Sessions where District leadership will provide a clear overview of the proposed budget, the financial challenges we are navigating, and the decisions shaping our plan for the year ahead. These sessions will take place on Wednesday, April 15 at both 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Administration Building Board Room, 2035 Monroe Ave.
The District is facing a significant gap between anticipated revenue and anticipated expenses. Health insurance rates have skyrocketed as have the cost of utilities and other expenses.
We are proposing a series of “Level 1” reductions to programs and services. Most of these will be done through attrition and some program modifications. We are also proposing a tax increase of 3.98% requiring 60% approval by voters. We’ve focused on keeping the tax increase as low as possible and avoiding drastic cuts to programs.
Please come and learn more about the challenges and proposed solutions. This session is designed to share information, increase understanding, and answer questions from our community.
